Kent Community Foundation has been supporting The Music Man Project since 2017 and funding from the Auston Trust Fund will be used to stage this December’s sell out Music Man Project Christmas Concert in Gillingham.

The Music Man Project is an accessible music education service creating inspirational opportunities for people with a learning disability to learn, enjoy and perform music together. Since starting in September 2017, the project has gone from strength to strength and has become like a family for many performers and carers – somewhere to belong, make friends, develop confidence and to ‘shine.’

On Wednesday 8th December the Music Man Project is holding their Christmas concert at The Glassbox Theatre, MidKent College, Medway Road, Gillingham ME7 1FN.

Sarah Mann, Regional Director, The Music Man Project (Kent/Medway), said, “We are very grateful to Kent Community Foundation and the Auston Trust Fund for the £4,500 grant. We originally applied for financial support for an Orchestral Partnership Project which would have brought all our Kent performers together to work collaboratively with local orchestral players and theatre staff. Unfortunately, the pandemic meant that we had to cancel those plans and instead we are extremely excited to be performing a Christmas concert with our friends from The City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra on 8 December at The Glassbox Theatre in Gillingham.”

Josephine McCartney, Chief Executive, Kent Community Foundation, said, “We have been supporting The Music Man Project since it was formed in 2017 and their Christmas concert is always such an uplifting and joyful occasion.”

MASSIVE 'thank you ' to everyone at Kent Community Foundation. Your funding support is HUGELY appreciated and has enabled us to get into the heart of local communities with REAL, affordable, healthy and tasty food that does so much more than feed people.

KCF's enthusiasm for what we are doing and hoping to do, coupled with helpful advice, gave us the confidence to take this daunting step which has paid off.
