The Medway Corporate Giving Fund, run by Kent Community Foundation, recently hosted a funding event on 3rd September 2024 at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. Three local charities ‘pitched’ for donations in a friendly ‘Dragon’s Den’ environment to the panel, made up of businesses and entrepreneurs from across Medway who have joined together to pool and distribute funds to support local people and help communities thrive.

The three charities presenting on the evening were:

Walderslade Together CIC (WALT) - A well-regarded community organisation which is focused on improving the quality of life of those in the ME5 postcode area.

King’s Church Medway T/As Caring Hands - A vital service well known in its community for providing a safe space to turn to for homeless and vulnerably housed individuals that need support.

Hygiene Bank Medway - A local branch of a national charity that is working to reduce the effects of hygiene poverty to residents of Medway.

Treated to heartfelt and engaging presentations from each of the charities, the Medway members gave generously and in total £16,200 was awarded, shared amongst the three charities.

Bruce Topham, Grants Manager at Kent Community Foundation comments: “We were delighted to once again bring together charities and business leaders in Medway to enable them to meet and encourage them to provide funding. It is hard for small local charities to gain access to funding and events such as this make a significant difference to them."

The Medway Corporate Giving Fund, managed by Kent Community Foundation, is a collective fund which pools donations from generous Medway businesses and organisations to support their local community. The aim of the Fund is to bring together socially responsible local businesses and connect them with innovative projects, which make a real difference in the local community and help those most in need. Each member makes an annual charitable donation, which is pooled to create a collective fund. It is this collective and proactive approach that enables the organisations to work together to make a bigger impact in the community.

We are always on the lookout for new members which will naturally increase the amount we able to distribute to all the deserving causes in Medway.  If you are a local Medway business or individual and would like to help make positive, lasting changes in your local community, you can find out more about the Medway Corporate Giving Fund here.

MASSIVE 'thank you ' to everyone at Kent Community Foundation. Your funding support is HUGELY appreciated and has enabled us to get into the heart of local communities with REAL, affordable, healthy and tasty food that does so much more than feed people.

KCF's enthusiasm for what we are doing and hoping to do, coupled with helpful advice, gave us the confidence to take this daunting step which has paid off.
