Funding for Conservation and Environmental Activities

Led by the Wild CIC has received funding from Kent Community Foundation for themed conservation and environmental activities.

Based in Ashford, Led by the Wild CIC, has received funding to increase the numbers of activities aimed at those who are concerned about the climate crisis and environmental challenges. Their ‘Nature Nurture’ has already attracted children, families, community groups and the wider community and the Kent Community Foundation funding for the sequel ‘Nature Nurture+’ will allow Led by the Wild to deliver more activities and reach more people. The programme will include training and knowledge sharing, to build a community of volunteers, and support individuals and groups to develop and enact their own conservation plans be it for their balcony, back-garden, or a community wild-area.

Alison Body, Director, Led by the Wild CIC, said, “Our world faces unprecedented climate challenges; pollution, loss of habitat, unsympathetic and unsustainable land use, and the exploitation of our natural resources is decimating our wildlife and countryside. It is a fundamental part of our ethos that we promote and nurture a love and knowledge of nature through our education and community projects. We received a grant in August 2021, towards our original ‘Nature Nurture’ project and we are delighted to have been awarded a further £5,000 from Kent Community Foundation towards ‘Nature Nurture+’ which will empower people of all ages to respond to these environmental issues in a positive and proactive way.”

Their conservation activities are supported and underpinned with expert knowledge from their partners who include The Bee Conservation Trust, Hythe Environmental Group, Kent Wildlife Trust and the RSPB and we were delighted to award then a grant towards their spring and summer conservation ‘Nature Nurture+’ programme from our Fund for the Environment.”
