Kent Community Foundation was delighted to make a £500 donation towards a Christmas Dinner for stroke survivors in Dartford.

The Thames Gateway YMCA asked the Kent Community Foundation team for financial support for a Christmas Lunch for twenty stroke survivors, many of whom are over fifty and vulnerable and attend a weekly YMCA fitness class in Dartford as part of their rehabilitation.

With the donation from Kent Community Foundation the group enjoyed a lovely lunch on Thursday 25th November at the ‘Rising Sun’ in Dartford and took home a Christmas gift.

Kirsty Doubleday, The Thames Gateway YMCA, said “Many who attend our weekly fitness class are over fifty and are classed as ‘vulnerable’ and are very lonely and isolated so for them this class is a great opportunity for them to get fit as well as socialise with others. We asked Kent Community Foundation for help to cover the cost of a Christmas Lunch and we were delighted when they donated £500.”

Natalie Smith, Director of Grants and Impact, Kent Community Foundation, said, “Kent Community Foundation was thrilled to support the Thames Gateway YMCA festive get together. It is always so satisfying to see that our funding makes a real difference to people’s lives, and we would love to hear from community groups and charities who need some financial help for their projects.”

MASSIVE 'thank you ' to everyone at Kent Community Foundation. Your funding support is HUGELY appreciated and has enabled us to get into the heart of local communities with REAL, affordable, healthy and tasty food that does so much more than feed people.
