36k additional funding for charities in Medway
Medway Council has appointed Kent Community Foundation to administer a Fund of £36,000 to offer financial support to charitable groups in Medway.
The Medway Better Connected Community Chest Fund is open now for applications from charitable groups who deliver services to reduce loneliness and social isolation to the over 65’s living in Medway.
Natalie Smith, Director of Grants and Impact, Kent Community Foundation, said, “The Medway Better Connected Community Chest Fund is part of the Medway Council Better Connected programme to reduce loneliness and social isolation in over 65’s. The Council programme aims to increase the range of fun, stimulating, positive activities where older people in Medway can enjoy themselves and make friends. This new funding stream can cover virtual or online activities, and priority will be given to those organisations using physical activity, art and culture or intergenerational ideas to engage their beneficiaries.”
Amie Kemp, Programme Manager, Public Health Directorate, Medway Council, said, “Kent Community Foundation supported Medway Council last year awarding our COVID funds to charities across Medway. Administering grants is their core business and means we could agree the criteria for this funding pot, then confidently hand over to them to manage the rest of the process.”
