Learning Journey Fund

Learning Journey Fund is a new fund about ambition, sharing ideas, and having space to think and plan.

We want you to be bold. Who is doing what you want to do brilliantly? Who is leading on this nationally or internationally? What can you learn from them and how can you put your learning into practice?

The Fund will support up to ten individuals, staff members or volunteers, from charities based in Kent to discover new insights and inspiration. The scheme will fund individuals to visit and learn from national and international best practice, to plan their own next steps and to share learning across the region.

This could be visiting a charity that is an exemplar for local engagement, environmental sustainability, or work with refugees. It could learning from a care home that is pioneering client-led services, a museum that is bringing their collection to life, a resident’s group that runs an amazing community garden, or a sports club that is truly inclusive.

Following your visit or visits, we will pay to help you think through your learning, and to bring in a coach, advisor, consultant, or facilitator to help you develop your plans and your next steps. We can support you around this planning this, for example links, tips and recommendations.

You will then share your learning through a blog or presentation that will be posted on our website. We also aim to bring the grantees together to learn and share with one another.

In summary:

  • Visit: identify and visit another individual/s or organisation/s to get inspiration and learn from.
  • Plan: work with a consultant, facilitator, coach, or advisor to think through your ideas and plan practical next steps.
  • Share: disseminate what you have learned with other charities through a blog, video, or presentation. What might be useful for other people working in the charitable sector in Kent?

The fund is for up to £1,500. It will be divided into 3 types of expenditure:

  • Visit: up to £500 to fund your visit/s (for example travel, accommodation, food)
  • Plan: up to £500 to fund working with an advisor to think through your next steps (this can include fees, venue hire, away day expenses)
  • Support: up to £500 for your time as part of the visit, thinking and project planning as well as sharing your learning.

Applications close on 30 June 2022 and final decisions will be made by 31 July 2022.

As well as filling in a short form, we’d like you to send us a short video of you talking about you and your application. This can be sent via wetransfer to admin@kentcf.org.uk
